An Act to increase the limit imposed by section 60 of the New Towns Act 1981 on the amounts which may be borrowed by development corporations and the Commission for the New Towns.

1 Increase of limit on borrowing.

M1 In section 60 of the New Towns Act 1981 (limit on borrowing by development corporations and Commission for New Towns) for “£3,625 million or such greater sum not exceeding £4,000 million” there shall be substituted “ £4,500 million or such greater sum not exceeding £5,000 million ” .

2 Citation and extent.

(1) This Act may be cited as the New Towns Act 1982.

(2) This Act does not extend to Northern Ireland.
