An Act to make provision for the wearing of rear seat belts by children; and for connected purposes.

Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:—

M1 An Order in Council made under paragraph 1(1)(b) of Schedule 1 to the Northern Ireland Act 1974 which contains a statement that it is made only for purposes corresponding to the purposes of [F2 section 15(3) of the Road Traffic Act 1988 F2] shall not be subject to sub-paragraphs (4) and (5) of paragraph 1 of that Schedule (affirmative resolution of both Houses of Parliament) but shall be subject to annulment in pursuance of a resolution of either House of Parliament.

3 Short title, commencement and extent.

(1) This Act may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Wearing of Rear Seat Belts by Children) Act 1988.
