Australian Constitution (Public Record Copy) Act 1990

1990 CHAPTER 17

An Act to exclude one of the record copies of the Commonwealth of Australia Constitution Act 1900 from the public records to which the Public Records Act 1958 applies.

[29th June 1990]

Whereas the government of the Commonwealth of Australia has requested that the record copy of the Commonwealth of Australia Constitution Act 1900 which is at present on loan to the Commonwealth should remain permanently in the keeping of the Commonwealth;

And whereas the government of the United Kingdom is willing to advise Her Majesty to accede to that request subject to the approval by Parliament of legislation releasing that copy from the provisions of the Public Records Act 1958;

Be it therefore enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:β€”

1 Release of record copy of Australian Constitution.

M1 The copy of the Commonwealth of Australia Constitution Act 1900 which at the passing of this Act is on loan to the Commonwealth of Australia shall cease to be included in the public records to which the Public Records Act 1958 applies.

2 Short title.

This Act may be cited as the Australian Constitution (Public Record Copy) Act 1990.
