The Friendly Societies (Group Schemes) Regulations 1993

The Friendly Societies Commission, in exercise of the powers conferred upon it bysection 11(7)(b) of the Friendly Societies Act 1992( 1 ) and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Friendly Societies (Group Schemes) Regulations 1993, and shall come into force on 19th February 1993.
Prescribed groups
2. A group of persons shall be prescribed for the purposes of the definition of “group scheme” within section 11(3)(b) of the Friendly Societies Act 1992 if it is a club formed for any of the following purposes:
(a) the promotion of lawful sports or games;
(b) the provision of facilities for recreation (including physical exercise) or other leisure-time occupation.
In witness whereof the common seal of the Friendly Societies Commission is hereunto fixed, and is authenticated by me, a person authorised under paragraph 13 of Schedule 1 to the Friendly Societies Act 1992, on14th January 1993.
