Humber Bridge (Debts) Act 1996

1996 CHAPTER 1

An Act to confer power on the Secretary of State to provide that sums payable to him by the Humber Bridge Board shall not be so payable.

Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:β€”

1 Power of Secretary of State

(1) The Secretary of State may by order provide that any sum (including interest) which would otherwise be payable to the Secretary of State by the Humber Bridge Board in accordance with an agreement under section 5(3) of the Humber Bridge Act 1971, and which is specified in the order, shall not be so payable.

(2) No order shall be made under subsection (1) without the consent of the Treasury.

(3) The power to make an order under subsection (1) shall be exercisable by statutory instrument which shall be subject to annulment in pursuance of a resolution of the House of Commons.

2 Short title.

This Act may be cited as the Humber Bridge (Debts) Act 1996.
