The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the Secretary of State for Scotland and the Secretary of State for Wales, acting jointly, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 2(c) of the Destructive Imported Animals Act 1932(1), as applied in relation to coypus by the Coypus (Prohibition on Keeping) Order 1987(2), and now vested in them(3), and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, and with the approval of the Treasury, hereby make the following Regulations:

Title and commencement I1

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Coypus (Special Licence) (Fees) Regulations 1997 and shall come into force on 1st January 1998.

Interpretation I2

2. In these Regulations—

(a) the Act ” means the Destructive Imported Animals Act 1932 ; and

(b) a special licence” means a special licence granted in accordance with section 8 of the Act authorising the keeping of coypus.

Special licence fees I3

3. On the granting of a special licence there shall be paid to the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the Secretary of State for Scotland or the Secretary of State for Wales, as the case may be, the following fee—

(a)in England and Wales, £185; and

(b)in Scotland, £60.F1]
