The GLA Roads (Supplementary Provisions) Order 2000

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 405(2) and 406 of the Greater London Authority Act 1999( 1 ) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
Citation, commencement and interpretation
1. β(1) This Order may be cited as the GLA Roads (Supplementary Provisions) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 5th May 2000.
(2) In this Order βthe 1980 Actβ means the Highways Act 1980( 2 ).
Section 14A of the Highways Act 1980 to have effect as if certain roads were highways
2. β(1) Section 14A of the 1980 Act shall have effect in relation to a road to which paragraph (2) applies as if such a road were a highway.
(2) This paragraph applies to a road in Greater London whichβ
(a) is a road to which the public has access;
(b) is not a highway; and
(c) was constructed by an urban development corporation.
(3) If a road to which paragraph (2) applies is designated as a GLA road pursuant to an order under subsection 14A(1) of the 1980 Act, that road shall, upon its becoming a GLA road in accordance with section 14A(2), become a highway maintainable at the public expense.
