The Secretary of State in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 5 of the Building Act 1984( 1 ), hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Building Regulations (Amendment) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 3rd July 2000.

Amendment of the Building Regulations 1991

2.The Building Regulations 1991( 2 ) shall be amended by inserting the following Part after regulation 9 (exempt buildings and work):β€”

β€œ PART IIA EXEMPTION OF PUBLIC BODIES FROM PROCEDURAL REQUIREMENTS

The Metropolitan Police Authority

9A. β€”(1) The Metropolitan Police Authority is hereby prescribed for the purposes of section 5 of the Building Act 1984 (exemption of public bodies from the procedural requirements and enforcement of building regulations).

(2) The Metropolitan Police Authority is exempt from compliance with these Regulations in so far as the requirements of these Regulations are not substantive requirements. ”
