The Immigration (Control of Entry through Republic of Ireland) (Amendment) Order 2000

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 9(2) and 32(1) of the Immigration Act 1971( 1 ), hereby makes the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Immigration (Control of Entry through Republic of Ireland) (Amendment) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 30th July 2000.

2. In article 4(2) of the Immigration (Control of Entry through Ireland) Order 1972 ( 2 ), after “shall not apply to any person”, there is inserted “who arrives in the United Kingdom with leave to enter or remain in the United Kingdom which is in force but which was given to him before his arrival or”.

1971 c. 77 ; section 9(2) is amended in relevant respects by section 39(6) of the British Nationality Act 1981 (c. 61) and is modified by article 14 of the Immigration (Leave to Enter and Remain) Order 2000 (S.I. 2000/1161 ).
