The Safety of Sports Grounds (Designation) Order 2000

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 1(1) and 18(2) of the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975( 1 ), after such consultation as is mentioned in section 18(4) of that Act, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the Safety of Sports Grounds (Designation) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 1st August 2000.

Designation

2. The sports ground specified in the Schedule to this Order (being a sports ground in England at which association football matches are played, which is occupied by a club which is a member of the Football League Limited or the Football Association Premier League Limited, and which in the opinion of the Secretary of State has accommodation for more than 5,000 spectators) is hereby designated as a sports ground requiring a safety certificate under the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975( 2 ).

Amendment to the Safety of Sports Grounds (Rugby Football Grounds) (Designation) Order 1985

3. In the Schedule to the Safety of Sports Grounds (Rugby Football Grounds) (Designation) Order 1985( 3 ), the entries in respect of Thrum Hall, Halifax and Central Park, Wigan shall be omitted.

Amendment to the Safety of Sports Grounds (Designation) Order 1986

4. In Schedule 1 to the Safety of Sports Grounds (Designation) Order 1986( 4 ), the entry in respect of the County Ground Stadium, Exeter shall be omitted.
