Whereas under Article 41 of the Charter of the United Nations the Security Council of the United Nations has, by a resolution adopted on 17th May 2000, called upon Her Majesty’s Government in the United Kingdom and all other States to apply certain measures to give effect to a decision of that Council in relation to Eritrea and Ethiopia:
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 1 of the United Nations Act 1946( 1 ), is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:
Citation, commencement, operation and extent
1. —(1) This Order may be cited as the Eritrea and Ethiopia (United Nations Sanctions) (Amendment) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 14th July 2000.
(2) In this Order, “the Order” means the Eritrea and Ethiopia (United Nations Sanctions) Order 2000( 2 ).
(3) This Order shall extend to the United Kingdom.
2. Article 3 of the Order shall be amended as follows—
(a) in paragraph (1)(b), after the words “agree to supply or deliver,” there shall be inserted—
“ ; or
(c) do any act calculated to promote the supply or delivery of ” ;
(b) in paragraph (2) after the reference to (1)(b), there shall be inserted “or (c)”.
3. In article 11(1)(b), the word “and” shall be inserted before “any such cargo”.
4. In article 14(1), “11, 12 of 13” shall be replaced by “11, 12 or 13”.
5. The title of Schedule 3 shall be amended to read—
“ Disclosure of Information: Listed Territories ” .
