The Education (Grants) (Wells Cathedral School) Regulations 2000

In exercise of powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 485(a) and 489(1) of the Education Act 1996( 1 ), the Secretary of State for Education and Employment hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Grants) (Wells Cathedral School) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 1st September 2000.

Payment of grant

2. The Secretary of State may on or before 31 October 2000 pay a grant of such amount as he may determine to the governors of Wells Cathedral School (β€œthe School”) in respect of expenditure to be incurred by the governors, on, or in connection with, the purchase, building and equipping of premises to accommodate the International Centre for Young Musicians at Wells, Somerset.

Conditions of payment

3. The payment of grant under these Regulations shall be dependant on the fulfilment of such conditions as may be specified by the Secretary of State.

Requirements to be observed

4. Where a grant is paid under these Regulations the governors of the School shall comply with such requirements (including requirements as to the repayment of the grant or the payment to the Secretary of State of other sums representing the value of the premises purchased with the aid of grant or interest on sums due to him) as may be specified by the Secretary of State.
