The School Teachers' Remuneration Order 2000

1st September 2000

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5(3) of the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Act 1991( 1 ), the Secretary of State for Education and Employment hereby makes the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the School Teachers' Remuneration Order 2000 and shall come into force on 1st September 2000.

2. In this Order—

authority” means a local education authority; and

relevant post” means a post in a school maintained by an authority to teach a subject for which there is a shortage of teachers.

3. For the purposes of the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Act 1991, a lump sum incentive payment made by an authority or the governing body of a school maintained by an authority to a school teacher—

(a) on his taking up a relevant post following his qualification as a teacher; or

(b) following the successful completion of his induction period, on his taking up or remaining in a relevant post,

shall not be regarded as remuneration.
