The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred upon her by section 3(1)(b) of the Energy Act 1976( 1 ), is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Energy Act 1976 (Reserve Powers) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 11th September 2000.

2. It is hereby declared that because there is imminent in the United Kingdom a threatened emergency affecting fuel supplies which make it necessary in Her Majesty’s opinion that the government should temporarily have at its disposal exceptional powers for controlling the sources and availability of energy, the powers of sections 1 (general control by order) and 2 (reserve power to control by government directions) of the Energy Act 1976 shall be exercisable to their fullest extent.
