The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, being a Minister designated( 1 ) for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972( 2 ) in relation to the carriage of passengers by road, in exercise of the powers conferred by that section hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Road Transport (Passenger Vehicles Cabotage) (Amendment) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 28th December 2000.

Amendment of the Road Transport (Passenger Vehicles Cabotage) Regulations 1999

2. For regulation 5(2) of the Road Transport (Passenger Vehicles Cabotage) Regulations 1999( 3 ) there shall be substituted—

(2) For the purposes of articles 7, 9 and 11(2) and (3) of the Council Regulation ( 4 ) the competent authority shall be the Secretary of State. .
