The Firearms (Variation of Fees) Order 2000

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 43 of the Firearms Act 1968( 1 ) and section 11(4) of the Firearms (Amendment) Act 1988( 2 ), hereby makes the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Firearms (Variation of Fees) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 1st January 2001.

2. References in this Order to “the 1968 Act” and to “the 1988 Act” are, respectively, references to the Firearms Act 1968 and the Firearms (Amendment) Act 1988 .

3. —(1) Section 32(1) of the 1968 Act( 3 ) (fees for firearm and shot gun certificates) is amended as follows.

(2) In paragraph (a), for “£56” substitute “£50”.

(3) In paragraph (b), for “£46” substitute “£40”.

(4) In paragraph (d), for “£43” substitute “£50”.

(5) In paragraph (e), for “£18” substitute “£40”.

4. Section 35(1) of the 1968 Act( 4 ) (fee for registration as a firearms dealer) is amended by substituting “£150” for “£118”.

5. Section 35(3) of the 1968 Act( 5 ) (fee for new certificate of registration) is amended by substituting “£150” for “£50”.

6. Section 11(3) of the 1988 Act (fee for the grant or renewal of a shot gun certificate on the same occasion as the grant or renewal of a firearm certificate) is amended by substituting “£10” for “£5”.
