The Greater London Authority Act 1999 (Commencement No. 4 and Adaptation) Order 2000

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 425(2) and (5) of the Greater London Authority Act 1999( 1 ), hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and interpretation
1. —(1) This Order may be cited as the Greater London Authority Act 1999 (Commencement No. 4 and Adaptation) Order 2000.
(2) In this Order “the Act” means the Greater London Authority Act 1999.
Commencement of provisions
2. —(1) Subject to the adaptation in article 3, paragraph 4 of Schedule 27 to the Act shall come into force on 30th March 2000.
(2) The provisions of the Act specified in the first column of the Schedule shall come into force (where applicable, to the extent specified in the second column)–
(a) on 1st April 2000, in relation to the provisions specified in Part 1;
(b) on 8th May 2000, in relation to the provisions specified in Part 2;
(c) on 3rd July 2000, in relation to the provisions specified in Part 3.
(3) Sections 383 and 384 of the Act shall come into force on 1st October 2000.
Adaptation of paragraph 4 of Schedule 27
3.Paragraph 4 (section 1 of the Metropolitan Police (Receiver) Act 1867( 2 )) of Schedule 27 to the Act shall have effect with the substitution for the words “shall cease to have effect” of the following–
“ shall have effect as if there were inserted, after “Metropolitan Police Act 1829”, the words “shall, as regards monies for police purposes, be made up to 2nd July 2000, and as regards monies for other purposes” ” .
