The A140 North of Ipswich to Norwich Trunk Road (A14 Coddenham to A47 Norwich Southern Bypass) Detrunking Order 2001

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980( 1 ), and now vested in him( 2 ), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf.

1. This Order may be cited as the A140 North of Ipswich to Norwich Trunk Road (A14 Coddenham to A47 Norwich Southern Bypass) Detrunking Order 2001 and shall come into force on 1st June 2001.

2. In this Order—

(i) “the plan”

means the plan numbered L306GB/401/A140/1-6, marked The A140 North of Ipswich to Norwich Trunk Road (A14 Coddenham to A47 Norwich Southern Bypass) Detrunking Order 2001 signed by authority of the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions and deposited at the Highways Agency, Room G44, St Christopher House, Southwark Street, London SE1 0TE;

(ii) “principal road”

as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and

(iii) “the trunk road

means the A140 trunk road.

3. From the date when this Order comes into force the length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road.

THE SCHEDULE

LENGTH OF TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE TRUNK ROAD

1. The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is situated between a point at the A14/A140 Beacon Hill Interchange, Coddenham to and including the A47 Norwich Southern Bypass roundabout and is shown by broad black dashes on the plan.

2. The length of trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is situated between a point at the A14/A140 Beacon Hill Interchange, Coddenham, north westward on the A14 westbound slip road for a distance of 693 metres and is shown by broad black dashes on the plan.
