The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, being designated( 1 ) for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972( 2 ) in relation to the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Community, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by that section, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, makes the following Regulations:

Title, extent and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Import and Export Restrictions (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) (No. 4) (Amendment) Regulations 2001; they extend to England and Northern Ireland and come into force on 27th March 2001 at 11.00 pm.

Amendment to the Import and Export Restrictions (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) (No. 4) Regulations 2001

2. —(1) The Import and Export Restrictions (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) (No. 4) Regulations 2001( 3 ) are amended in accordance with this regulation.

(2) In regulation 1(2) for the words “midnight on 27th March 2001” there shall be substituted the words “midnight on 4th April 2001”.

(3) In regulation 2 for the definition of “the Decision” there shall be substituted—

“the Decision” means Commission Decision 2001/172/ EC of 1st March 2001 concerning certain protection measures with regard to foot-and-mouth disease in the United Kingdom and repealing Decision ( 2001/145/EC 4 ) as amended by Commission Decision ( 2001/190/EC 5 ) , Commission Decision ( 2001/209/EC 6 ) and Commission Decision ( 2001/239/EC 7 ) ; .

(3) In regulation 4(2)(b)(ii) for the words “on animal health problems affecting intra-Community trade in fresh meat” there shall be substituted the words “on health problems affecting the productions and marketing of meat products and certain other products of animal origin”.

(4) In regulation 5(3)(b)(iii) for the words “Chapter VII of Annex A” there shall be substituted the words “Chapter VI of Annex B”.
