In exercise of the powers conferred by the Secretary of State by sections 4(1), 4(2) (d), 4(3), 14(3), 42(7) of the Teaching and Higher Education Act 1998( 1 ) and having consulted the General Teaching Council for England in accordance with section 42(9) of that Act, the Secretary of State for Education and Employment makes the following Regulations:

Citation and Commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the General Teaching Council for England (Registration of Teachers) (Amendment No.2) Regulations 2001 and shall come into force on 1st June 2001.

Amendment of the General Teaching Council for England (Registration of Teachers) Regulations 2000

2. The General Teaching Council for England (Registration of Teachers) Regulations 2000( 2 ) are amended by—

(a) the insertion in regulation 2, at the appropriate place, of—
