The Electoral Commission (Limit on Public Awareness Expenditure) Order 2001

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the power conferred on him by section 13(6) of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000( 1 ), hereby makes the following Order with the consent of the Treasury:

1. This Order may be cited as the Electoral Commission (Limit on Public Awareness Expenditure) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 1st July 2001.

2. The sum of £1,500,000 is hereby specified for the purposes of section 13(6) of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000 (power to specify a sum which the Electoral Commission must not exceed in their total expenditure incurred in any financial year in performing their functions under section 13(1) of that Act).
