The Armed Forces Act 1996 (Commencement No. 4) Order 2001

18th April 2001

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 36(2) of the Armed Forces Act 1996( 1 ), hereby makes the following Order:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Armed Forces Act 1996 (Commencement No. 4) Order 2001.

2. —(1) Subject to paragraph (2)—

(a) sections 3 and 4 of the Armed Forces Act 1996, and

(b) (so far as not already in force) section 35 of and Schedule 7 to that Act,

shall come into force on 1st May 2001.

(2) Paragraph (1) shall not bring into force the repeal by Schedule 7 to the Armed Forces Act 1996 of section 46 of the Mental Health Act 1983( 2 ), section 69 of the Mental Health (Scotland) Act 1984( 3 ) and Article 52 of the Mental Health (Northern Ireland) Order 1986( 4 ).
