The Care Standards Act 2000 (Commencement No. 6) (England) Order 2001

5th April 2001

The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 118(1) and (4) to (6) and 122 of the Care Standards Act 2000( 1 ), and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation, interpretation and extent

1. —(1) This Order may be cited as the Care Standards Act 2000 (Commencement No. 6) (England) Order 2001.

(2) In this Order references to sections and Schedules are references to sections of, and Schedules to the Care Standards Act 2000.

(3) This Order extends to England only.

Appointed Day

2. —(1) The day appointed for the coming into force of paragraph 6 of Schedule 1 in so far as it relates to the General Social Care Council, and section 54(6) in so far as it relates to that paragraph, is 10th April 2001;

(2) 7th May 2001 is the day appointed for the coming into force of—

(a) the following provisions in so far as they relate to the General Social Care Council—

(i) section 54(1)(a), (4), (5) and (7)(a) (care councils);

(ii) Schedule 1, paragraphs 1 to 5, 7, 8, 12 to 14, 16 and 18 to 26 and section 54(6) in so far as it relates to those paragraphs;

(iii) for the purpose only of the exercise of any power to make rules and preparing codes of practice, sections 59, 60, 62, 63, 65, 66 and 71;

(b) section 55 (interpretation), in so far as it relates to those provisions.
