The Secretary of State for Education and Employment, in exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 22, 42(6) and 43(1) of the Teaching and Higher Education Act 1998( 1 ), hereby makes the following Regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Student Support) Regulations 2001 (Amendment) Regulations 2001 and shall come into force on 25th May 2001.

2. The Education (Student Support) Regulations 2001( 2 ) shall be amended as follows.

3. In regulation 5—

(a) in paragraph (2) substitute for the figure “19” the figure “18”; and

(b) after paragraph (2) insert the following paragraph:

(2A) For the purposes of paragraph (2) where periods of full-time study and work experience alternate within any week of the course the days of full-time study shall be aggregated with any weeks of full-time study in determining the number of weeks of full-time study in each year. .
