The Secretary of State for Education and Skills, in exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 22(1) and (2), 42(6) and 43(1) of the Teaching and Higher Education Act 1998( 1 ), hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Grants for Disabled Postgraduate Students) (Amendment) Regulations 2001 and shall come into force on 20th July 2001.
2. The Education (Grants for Disabled Postgraduate Students) Regulations 2000( 2 ) shall be amended as follows.
3. In regulation 4(1)(a) delete the words “providing education the standard of which is higher than that of a first degree course and”.
4. In regulation 9(2) substitute for the amount “£5,000” the amount “£5,120”.
5. These Regulations shall not have effect in relation to an academic year (as defined in regulation 2(6) of the Education (Grants for Disabled Postgraduate Students) Regulations 2000) which begins before 1st September 2001.
