The Broadcasting (Subtitling) Order 2001

Coming into force

4th July 2001

Whereas, a draft of this Order has been laid before and approved by resolution of each House of Parliament, pursuant to section 21(4) of the Broadcasting Act 1996( 1 );

Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon her by section 21(1)(a) of the Broadcasting Act 1996, and after consultation (in accordance with section 21(3) of that Act) with the Independent Television Commission, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the Broadcasting (Subtitling) Order 2001 and shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is made.

Amendment of section 20(3) of the Broadcasting Act 1996

2. In section 20(3)(a) of the Broadcasting Act 1996, for “50 per cent.” there is substituted “80 per cent.”.
