M1,M2 The Secretary of State, being a Minister designated for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972 in relation to measures relating to batteries and accumulators containing dangerous substances, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by that section and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:—

Citation, commencement and extent

1. —(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Batteries and Accumulators (Containing Dangerous Substances) (Amendment) Regulations 2001 and shall come into force on 31st August 2001.

(2) These Regulations extend to Great Britain.

Further amendment of the Batteries and Accumulators (Containing Dangerous Substances) Regulations 1994

M3 2. The Batteries and Accumulators (Containing Dangerous Substances) Regulations 1994 are further amended in regulation 4 as follows:—

(a) in paragraph (1), the words “and subject to paragraph (3) below” are omitted; and

(b) the whole of paragraph (3) is omitted.
