In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by section 18(4) of the Learning and Skills Act 2000( 1 ), the Secretary of State for Education and Skills hereby makes the following Order:
Citation, commencement and interpretation
1. β(1) This Order may be cited as the Learning and Skills Council for England (Supplementary Functions) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 1st September 2001.
(2) In this Order βthe Dance and Drama Regulationsβ means the Education (Grants) (Dance and Drama) (England) Regulations 1999( 2 ), the Education (Grants) (Dance and Drama) (England) Regulations 2000( 3 ) and the Education (Grants etc ,) (Dance and Drama) (England) Regulations 2001( 4 ).
Supplementary Functions of the Learning and Skills Council for England
2. The following supplementary functions are hereby conferred on the Learning and Skills Council for Englandβ
(a) the function of advising the Secretary of State as to the quality of education provided by institutions to which grants are paid under the Dance and Drama Regulations;
(b) the function of specifying requirements which (pursuant to the Dance and Drama Regulations) must be complied with by institutions to which grants are paid under those regulations;
(c) the function of advising the Secretary of State on whether such requirements have been complied with; and
(d) the function of arranging for payment of grant under the Dance and Drama Regulations.
Revocation
3.The Further Education Funding Council for England (Supplementary Functions) Order 1999( 5 ) and the Further Education Funding Council for England (Supplementary Functions) (Amendment) Order 2000( 6 ) (which by virtue of paragraph 8 of Schedule 10 to the Learning and Skills Act 2000 are treated as if they were made under section 18(4) of that Act) are hereby revoked.
