The Lord Chancellor, being a Minister designated( 1 ) for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972( 2 ) in relation to matters relating to the practice of the profession of lawyer, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by that section, makes the following Regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Lawyer’s Practice) (Amendment) Regulations 2001 and shall come into force on 6th April 2001.

2. —(1) In regulation 2(1) of the European Communities (Lawyer’s Practice) Regulations 2000( 3 ), after the definition of “Irish solicitor” there shall be inserted the following definitions—

(2) In paragraph 24 of Schedule 4 to the European Communities (Lawyer’s Practice) Regulations 2000 for the words “paragraph 21(b) shall apply to a director” there shall be substituted the words “paragraph 21(1)(b) shall apply to a director or to a member of a limited liability partnership”.
