The Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001 (Commencement No. 6) Order 2002

In exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 138(2) of the Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001( 1 ), the Secretary of State hereby makes the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001 (Commencement No. 6) Order 2002.

2. Section 130 of the Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001 shall come into force on:

(a) 22nd April 2002 for the purpose of remands and committals by a court in any of the police areas( 2 ) listed in the Schedule to this Order; and

(b) 16th September 2002 for all other purposes.

SCHEDULE POLICE AREAS IN WHICH SECTION 130 OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE AND POLICE ACT 2001 SHALL COME INTO FORCE ON 22ND APRIL 2002

Police area has the meaning given to it in section 101 of the Police Act 1996 (c. 16) by virtue of Schedule 1 to the Interpretation Act 1978 (c. 30) , as amended by Schedule 7 to the Police Act 1996.
