The Care Standards Act 2000 (Commencement No. 12) (England) Order 2002

The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 118(4) to (6) and 122 of the Care Standards Act 2000( 1 ) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
Citation, interpretation and extent
1. β(1) This Order may be cited as the Care Standards Act 2000 (Commencement No. 12) (England) Order 2002.
(2) In this Order, references to sections and Schedules are references to sections of, and Schedules to, the Care Standards Act 2000.
(3) This Order extends to England only.
Appointed days
2. β(1) 25th March 2002 is the day appointed for the coming into force ofβ
(a) section 54(2) (General Social Care Council);
(b) the following provisions in so far as they relate to the General Social Care Council and are not already in forceβ
(i) section 62 (codes of practice);
(ii) section 63 (approval of courses);
(iii) section 66 (visitors for certain social work courses);
(iv) section 71 (rules);
(c) section 67(1) to (4) in so far as it confers functions on the Secretary of State, section 67(5) and section 67(7) in so far as it relates to section 67(5) and to the Secretary of State;
(d) section 55 (interpretation), in so far as it relates to any provision mentioned in sub-paragraphs (a) to (c) above;
(e) section 113(1), (3) and (4) (default powers of appropriate Minister) in so far as it confers powers on the Secretary of State in relation to the functions of the General Social Care Council.
(2) 1st April 2002 is the day appointed for the coming into force of section 70(1) (abolition of Central Council for Education and Training in Social Work).
