The Local Government Act 2000 (Commencement No. 8) Order 2002

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 105(2) and 108(3) and (7) of the Local Government Act 2000( 1 ) hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and application
1. β(1) This Order may be cited as the Local Government Act 2000 (Commencement No. 8) Order 2002.
(2) This Order applies in relation to England and to police authorities in Wales( 2 ).
Provisions of the Local Government Act 2000 coming into force on 27th July 2002
2. The following provisions of the Local Government Act 2000 shall come into force on 27th July 2002β
(a) section 90;
(b) in Schedule 6 the repeal ofβ
(i) in section 80(1)(e) of the Local Government Act 1972( 3 ), the words βor under the Audit Commission Act 1998β;
(ii) in section 16(1)(a) of the Audit Commission Act 1998( 4 ), the words βor 18β;
(iii) section 17(1)(b) of that Act and βandβ preceding it;
(iv) in section 17(2) of that Act, the words βsubject to subsection (3)β and paragraphs (a) and (b) and the word βandβ following paragraph (b);
(v) section 17(3), (5)(b), (7) and (8) of that Act; and
(vi) section 18( 5 ) of that Act.

See section 50(2) of the Local Government Act 2000 for the power of the National Assembly for Wales to issue a model code as regards the conduct which is expected of members and co-opted members of relevant authorities in Wales other than police authorities.
1998 c. 18 . Section 17 was amended by paragraphs 1, 6(1) and (2)(a) of Schedule 8 to and section 133 of the Greater London Authority Act 1999 and by Schedule 7 to and section 137 of the Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001.
Section 18 was amended by paragraph 7 of Schedule 8 to the Greater London Authority Act 1999.
