The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 2 and 2A(3) of the Police (Property) Act 1897( 1 ) hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1. β(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Police (Property) (Amendment) Regulations 2002 and shall come into force on 1st October 2002.
(2) In these Regulations βthe 1997 Regulationsβ means the Police (Property) Regulations 1997( 2 ).
Amendments to the 1997 Regulations
2. There shall be inserted after regulation 3(a) of the 1997 Regulations:
β (ab) in relation to the National Crime Squad, the National Crime Squad Service Authority; β .
3. In regulation 5(1) of the 1997 Regulations for the words βsection 43 of the Powers of Criminal Courts Act 1973β there shall be substituted βsection 143 of the Powers of Criminal Courts (Sentencing) Act 2000β.
4. In regulations 6(5) and 8 of the 1997 Regulations after βChief Officer of Policeβ there shall be inserted β, or in the case of property in the possession of the National Crime Squad the Director General of that Squad,β.
5. In regulation 7(3) of the 1997 Regulations for the words βsection 43A of the Powers of Criminal Courts Act 1973β there shall be substituted βsection 145 of the Powers of Criminal Courts (Sentencing) Act 2000β.

1897 c. 30 ; section 2 was amended by section 1 of the Police (Property) Act 1997 (c. 30) and section 77 of the Police Reform Act 2002 (c. 30) and was extended by section 144(2), (3) and (4) of the Powers of Criminal Courts (Sentencing) Act 2000 (c. 6) . Section 2A was inserted by section 77 of the Police Reform Act 2002.
