The Coroners' Records (Fees for Copies) Rules 2002

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 24(3) of the Coroners Act 1988( 1 ), hereby makes the following Rules:

1. —(1) These Rules may be cited as the Coroners' Records (Fees for Copies) Rules 2002 and shall come into force on 1st November 2002.

(2) In these Rules “photocopy” includes a copy produced by xerox machine, photocopier, facsimile, or printed from a computer disk.

2. The fees payable to coroners or other persons for furnishing copies, other than photocopies, of inquisitions, depositions or other documents in their custody relating to an inquest shall be as follows:

(a) for a copy of not more than 360 words, £6.20;

(b) for a copy of not less than 361 and not more than 1440 words, £13.10;

(c) for a copy in excess of 1440 words, £13.10 for the first 1440 words and thereafter 70p for each 72 words or part thereof.

3. The fee payable to coroners or other persons for furnishing photocopies of inquisitions, depositions or other documents in their custody relating to an inquest shall be £1.10 for each page.

4. The Coroners' Records (Fees for Copies) Rules 1997( 2 ) are hereby revoked.
