The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 6A(14) of the Police Act 1996( 1 ), hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation, commencement, interpretation and extent

1. —(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Police Authorities (Three-year Strategy Plans) Regulations 2002 and shall come into force on 1st November 2002.

(2) In these Regulations “the 1996 Act” means the Police Act 1996.

(3) These Regulations extend to England and Wales.

Three-year periods

2. —(1) The first period to be treated as constituting a relevant three-year period for the purposes of section 6A of the 1996 Act is the period of two years ending on 31st March 2005.

(2) Subsequent relevant three-year periods shall be the three-year periods commencing on 1st April 2005, 1st April 2008 and every third year thereafter.
