The Driving Licences (Designation of Relevant External Law) Order 2002

The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 89(2)(c) of the Road Traffic Act 1988( 1 ), hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1. This Order may be cited as the Driving Licences (Designation of Relevant External Law) Order 2002 and shall come into force on 1st November 2002.
Designation of relevant external law: Guernsey
2. The law for the time being in force in Guernsey which corresponds to Part III of the Road Traffic Act 1988 is hereby designated as one which makes satisfactory provision for the granting of licences to drive all classes of goods vehicle and all classes of passenger-carrying vehicle.

1988 c. 52 . Section 88(8), which includes the definition of โrelevant external lawโ, was inserted by section 3(5) of the Road Traffic (Driver Licensing and Information Systems) Act 1989 (c. 22) ; section 89(2) was substituted by section 4(3) of that Act and amended by the Driving Licences (Community Driving Licence) Regulations 1996 (S.I. 1996/1974 ).
