The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 95(12) of, and paragraph 12 of Schedule 8 to, the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999( 1 ), hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Asylum Support (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations 2002 and shall come into force on 8th January 2003.
Amendment of regulation 3 of the Asylum Support Regulations 2000
2. For regulation 3(4) of the Asylum Support Regulations 2000(“the 2000 Regulations”)( 2 ), there is substituted—
“ (4) The application may not be entertained by the Secretary of State—
(a) where it is made otherwise than in accordance with paragraph (3); or
(b) where the Secretary of State is not satisfied that the information provided is complete or accurate or that the applicant is co-operating with enquiries made under paragraph (5). ” .
Amendment of the Schedule to the Asylum Support Regulations 2000
3. The Schedule to these Regulations, which provides for amendments to be made to the Application Form and Notes found in the Schedule to the 2000 Regulations, shall have effect.

SCHEDULE
1. The Application Form and Notes found in the Schedule to the 2000 Regulations are amended as follows.
2. In section 2 of the Application Form—
(a) After the entry “ Their date of birth”, insert—
“
”.
(b) After the entry “What date did you apply for asylum?”, insert—
“
”.
(c) In the entry “Please give the Integrated Casework Directorate reference number”, for “Integrated Casework Directorate reference number” substitute “Home Office reference number”.
(d) After the entry “Please give the Port reference number”, insert—
“
”.
3. In section 3 of the Application Form, at the end of the entry “Have you applied for support before”, insert “from the National Asylum Support Service”.
4. In section 13 of the Application Form, after the words “Can we give your details to the local health authority”, insert “, local authority”.
5. In the Notes, under the heading “ How to make an Application ”, for the first paragraph substitute—
“ When you have filled in the application form (NASS1), you should send it to the address below, enclosing four passport-size photographs of the main applicant. You should include any documents we need as evidence. ” .
6. In Note 2,
(a) After “If you do tick “Yes”, please provide details in the box about your claim for asylum or appeal.”, insert—
“ This includes information on your route to the United Kingdom, method of entry to the United Kingdom and when and where you applied for asylum. If you did not apply for asylum at the port immediately on arrival, you will also need to provide an explanation. ” .
(b) After “You should always give any reference number that the Integrated Casework Directorate (ICD) has given you”, insert “(e.g. your Home Office reference number)”.
(c) After “for example, a Port reference number (TN4/123/99)”, insert “or an IFB reference number (IFB02/002768/Q) if you have been issued with an Applicant Registration Card”.
7. In Note 3, for the second paragraph substitute—
“ If you have previously applied for support from the National Asylum Support Service, you must indicate when you applied for support and your previous reference number. ” .
8. In Note 13, for the words “or in the area where we may offer you accommodation”, substitute “, in the area where we may offer you accommodation or in the area where you may seek support when asylum support ends”.
