The Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 49, 51(1) and 53(5) of the Road Traffic Act 1988( 1 ) and by virtue of the Department of Transport (Fees) Order 1988( 2 ), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consultation with representative organisations in accordance with section 195(2) of that Act, hereby makes the following Regulations:—

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Goods Vehicles (Plating and Testing) (Amendment) Regulations 2002 and shall come into force on 1st April 2002.

Preliminary

2.The Goods Vehicles (Plating and Testing) Regulations 1988( 3 ) shall be further amended as follows.

Amendments relating to fees

3. —(1) In regulation 12, in paragraph (3), for the Table there shall be substituted the following Table—

(2) In the regulations specified in column (1) of the following Table for the amounts specified in column (2) there shall be substituted the amounts specified in column (3).

Fees for re-tests

4. In regulation 16(6)(c)(i), “8,” shall be deleted.

Amendment to Schedule 2 (classes of vehicle to which the Regulations do not apply)

5. In paragraph 25 of Schedule 2, the following words shall be inserted after the words “Motor vehicles”—

S.I. 1981/154 (N.I. I) ; the 1981 Order was amended by the Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994 (c. 22) , Schedule 3, paragraph 17(1) and (2) and S.R. 1987/366 . Exemptions from the requirement to have a vehicle test certificate were prescribed in S.R. 1989/234 .
