Whereas Agreements were made on 22nd November 1972 between the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications and the States of Jersey and the States of Guernsey respectively relating to the surrender of the privilege conferred on the Post Office by section 24 of the Post Office Act 1969( 1 ) and the administration in the Channel Islands of telecommunication services:
Now, Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by section 87(1) and (2) of the Post Office Act 1969( 2 ) and all other powers enabling her in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—
1. This Order may be cited as the Telecommunication Services (Channel Islands) Order 2002 and shall come into force on 29th March 2002.
2. This Order applies—
(a) to the Bailiwick of Jersey for the purposes of article 3(a) and (c);
(b) to the Bailiwick of Guernsey for the purposes of article 3(b) and (c);
(c) to the United Kingdom and to the Isle of Man for the purposes of article 3(c).
3. The following Orders are revoked—
(a) the Telecommunication Services (Jersey) Order 1972( 3 );
(b) the Telecommunication Services (Guernsey) Order 1972( 4 ); and
(c) the Telecommunication Services (Channel Islands Consequential Provisions) Order 1972( 5 ).

1969 c. 48 . The British Telecommunications Act 1981 (c. 38) , section 89 and Schedule 6 Part II repealed section 24 of the 1969 Act. The repeal extended to the Channel Islands by virtue of section 89(5) of the 1981 Act.
The Postal Services Act 2000 (c. 26) , section 127(6) and Schedule 9 repealed section 87 of the Post Office Act 1969, but that repeal has not yet come into force. References in that section to the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications were substituted by references to the Secretary of State by virtue of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (Dissolution) Order 1974 (S.I. 1974/691 ).
