The Co-operatives and Community Benefit Societies Act 2003 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2003

The Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by section 7 of the Co-operatives and Community Benefit Societies Act 2003( 1 ), hereby make the following Order:

Citation and interpretation

1. —(1) This Order may be cited as the Co-operatives and Community Benefit Societies Act 2003 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2003.

(2) In this Order, “the Act” means the Co-operatives and Community Benefit Societies Act 2003 .

Appointed days and application

2. —(1) The day appointed for the coming into force of sections 2 and 3 of the Act is 1st April 2004.

(2) The day appointed for the coming into force of sections 4 to 6 of the Act is 20th October 2003.

(3) Section 4 of the Act (purported contracts, deeds and obligations) shall only apply to contracts or deeds made, and obligations undertaken, on or after 20th October 2003.
