The Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by section 33(2) of the Credit Unions Act 1979( 1 ), hereby make the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1. This Order may be cited as the Credit Unions Act 1979 (Commencement No. 3) Order 2003 and comes into force on 1st September 2003.
Commencement of section 3(2) and (3) of the 1979 Act
2. 1st September 2003 is the day appointed for the coming into operation of subsections (2) and (3) of section 3 of the Credit Unions Act 1979(use of the name βcredit unionβ)( 2 ).

1979 c. 34 . When the 1979 Act was originally enacted, orders made under section 33(2) of the 1979 Act (commencement orders) were not subject to any Parliamentary procedure. By virtue of an amendment to section 29 of the 1979 Act made by S.I. 2001/2617 , any statutory instrument made under the 1979 Act is subject to annulment in pursuance of a resolution of either House of Parliament.
