The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 6(2) of the Private Hire Vehicles (Carriage of Guide Dogs etc.) Act 2002( 1 ), hereby makes the following Order:

Citation

1. This Order may be cited as the Private Hire Vehicles (Carriage of Guide Dogs etc.) Act 2002 (Commencement No 1) Order 2003.

Commencement of Act

2. In so far as the Private Hire Vehicles (Carriage of Guide Dogs etc.) Act 2002 applies to a private hire vehicle licensed by a licensing authority in England or Wales it shall come into force as follows—

(a) on 31 December 2003, section 1(1) in so far as it relates to—

(i) subsections (5), (6), (7) and (9) of section 37A of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995( 2 );

(ii) the power to make regulations under subsection (8) of that section; and

(iii) sections 3, 4 and 5; and

(b) on 31 March 2004, section 1(1) for all other purposes.
