The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 22(1) and (2)(b) and 118(5) to (7) of the Care Standards Act 2000( 1 ), and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:β€”

Citation, commencement and application

1. β€”(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Care Homes (Amendment) Regulations 2003 and shall come into force on 1st April 2003.

(2) These Regulations apply to England only.

Amendment of the Care Homes Regulations 2001

2. β€”(1)Regulation 19 of the Care Homes Regulations 2001( 2 ) (fitness of workers) shall be amended in accordance with the following provisions of this regulation.

(2) In paragraph (5)(d)β€”

(a) in head (i), for the words β€œ1 to 6” there shall be substituted the words β€œ1 to 7”;

(b) heads (ii) and (iii) shall be omitted.

(3) In paragraph (6), for the words β€œ1st April 2003” there shall be substituted the words β€œ31st October 2004”.
