The British Nationality (British Overseas Territories) (Amendment) Regulations 2003

In exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 41(1) and (3) of the British Nationality Act 1981( 1 ), the Secretary of State hereby makes the following Regulations:—

Citation and Commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the British Nationality (British Overseas Territories)(Amendment) Regulations 2003 and shall come into force on 1st April 2003.

Amendment

2. The British Nationality (Dependent Territories) Regulations 1982( 2 ) shall be amended as follows.

3. Regulations 10 to 13 and paragraphs 12 to 17 of Schedule 2 are hereby revoked.

4. In paragraph 18(d) of Schedule 2,

(a) the words, “, if a woman,” shall be omitted and

(b) for the word “man” substitute “person”;

5. In paragraph 19(b) of Schedule 2,

(a) the words “, if a woman,” shall be omitted and

(b) for the word “man” substitute “person”.

S.I. 1982/987 . Section 1(2) of the British Overseas Territories Act 2002 provides that a reference to a dependent territory within the meaning of the British Nationality Act 1981 (c. 61) shall be read as a reference to British overseas territory.
