The Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999 (Commencement No. 8) Order 2003

In exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 68(3) of the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999( 1 ), the Secretary of State hereby makes the following Order:

1. —(1) This Order may be cited as the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999 (Commencement No. 8) Order 2003.

(2) This Order extends to England and Wales.

2. The following provisions of the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999 shall come into force on 1st April 2003:

(a) section 58 (inferences from silence not permissible where no prior access to legal advice) to the extent not already in force;

(b) section 67(4) to the extent it relates to the entry (c) below; and

(c) paragraph 8 of Schedule 7.
