The Care Standards Act 2000 (Commencement No.18) (England) Order 2003

The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 122 of the Care Standards Act 2000( 1 ), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:β
Citation, interpretation and application
1. β(1) This Order may be cited as the Care Standards Act 2000 (Commencement No.18) (England) Order 2003.
(2) In this Order βthe Actβ means the Care Standards Act 2000.
(3) This Order applies to England only.
(4) In article 2, any reference to a section, unless the context otherwise requires, is a reference to a section of the Act, and any reference to a Schedule is a reference to a Schedule to the Act.
Appointed Days
2. β(1) 7th March 2003 is the day appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions, in so far as they relate to the English Council and are not already in forceβ
(a) section 55(1), (2)(a) and (4);
(b) section 57; and
(c) sub-paragraph (3) of paragraph 26 of Schedule 4 and section 116, in so far as it relates to that sub-paragraph but only for the purposes of an appeal under section 68.
(2) 1st April 2003 is the day appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions, in so far as they relate to the English Council and are not already in forceβ
(a) section 56(1)(a);
(b) section 58;
(c) section 59;
(d) section 60;
(e) section 64(1)(b);
(f) section 65;
(g) section 68;
(h) section 69; and
(i) section 104.
(3) 1st September 2003 is the day appointed for the coming into force of section 42.
