SECURITY INDUSTRY, ENGLAND AND WALES
The Private Security Industry Act 2001 (Commencement No. 5) Order 2004

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 26(2) of the Private Security Industry Act 2001( 1 ), having consulted the Security Industry Authority in accordance with section 24(4) of that Act, hereby makes the following Order:
1. β(1) This Order may be cited as the Private Security Industry Act 2001 (Commencement No. 5) Order 2004.
(2) In this Order βthe 2001 Actβ means the Private Security Industry Act 2001.
2. Section 3(1) and (2)(a) to (i) of the 2001 Act (conduct prohibited without a licence) shall come into force on 18 th October 2004 in the police areas( 2 ) ofβ
(a) Leicestershire;
(b) Northamptonshire;
(c) Staffordshire;
(d) Warwickshire;
(e) West Mercia; and
(f) West Midlands.
3. Section 3(1) and (2)(a) to (i) of the 2001 Act (conduct prohibited without a licence) shall come into force on 15 th November 2004 in the police areas ofβ
(a) Cheshire;
(b) Cumbria;
(c) Greater Manchester;
(d) Lancashire; and
(e) Merseyside.

The term βpolice areaβ has the meaning ascribed to it in section 101(1) of the Police Act 1996 (c. 16) by virtue of Schedule 1 to the Interpretation Act 1978 (c. 30) .
