FREEDOM OF INFORMATION

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (Commencement No. 5) Order 2004

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 87(3) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000( 1 ) hereby makes the following Order:

1. —(1) This Order may be cited as the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (Commencement No. 5) Order 2004( 2 ).

(2) In this Order, “the Act” means the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

2. The provisions of the Act shall, in so far as they are not already in force, come into force on 1st January 2005.

Certain provisions of the Act came into force on Royal Assent (30th November 2000) by section 87(1), on 30th January 2001 by section 87(2), on 14th May 2001 by S.I. 2 1001/1637 (C. 56) , on 12th November 2002 by S.I. 2001/2812 (C. 86) , on 31st October 2003, 29th February 2004 and 30th June 2004 by S.I. 2003/2603 (C. 97) . Some will come into force on 1st January 2005 by S.I. 2004/1909 (C. 81) for certain purposes.
