The Inquiries Act 2005 (Commencement) Order 2005

The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 51 of the Inquiries Act 2005( 1 ), having consulted the Scottish Ministers, the National Assembly for Wales and the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland in accordance with sections 45(3)( 2 ) and 51(2) of that Act, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation

1. This Order may be cited as the Inquiries Act 2005 (Commencement) Order 2005.

Commencement of the Inquiries Act 2005

2.The Inquiries Act 2005 shall come into force on 7 June 2005.

By section 45(3) of the Act, at any time when section 1 of the Northern Ireland Act 2000 (suspension of devolved government in Northern Ireland) is in force the requirement in section 51(2) to consult the First Minister and Deputy First Minister before making a commencement order is to be read as a requirement to consult the Secretary of State.
