The Sports Grounds and Sporting Events (Designation) Order 2005

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 9(2) and (3) of the Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol etc. ) Act 1985 ( 1 ) hereby makes the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Sports Grounds and Sporting Events (Designation) Order 2005 and shall come into force on 14 th December 2005.

2. For the purposes of the Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol etc.) Act 1985, there are hereby designated—

(1) the classes of sports ground specified in Schedule 1 to this Order;

(2) the classes of sporting events specified in Part 1 of Schedule 2 to this Order at any sports ground specified in Schedule 1; and

(3) the classes of sporting events specified in Part 2 of Schedule 2.

3. The Sports Grounds and Sporting Events (Designation) Order 1985( 2 ), the Sports Grounds and Sporting Events (Designation) (Amendment) Order 1987( 3 ), and article 2(2)(a) of the Sports Grounds and Football (Amendment of Various Orders) Order 1992( 4 ) are hereby revoked.

SCHEDULE 1 SPORTS GROUNDS

Any sports ground in England or Wales.

SCHEDULE 2 CLASSES OF SPORTING EVENTS

Article 2(1), 2(2)

PART I

1. Association football matches in which one or both of the participating teams represents a club which is for the time being a member (whether a full or associate member) of the Football League, the Football Association Premier League, the Football Conference National Division, the Scottish Football League or Welsh Premier League, or represents a country or territory.

2. Association football matches in competition for the Football Association Cup (other than in a preliminary or qualifying round).

PART 2

Association football matches at a sports ground outside England and Wales in which one or both of the participating teams represents a club which is for the time being a member (whether a full or associate member) of the Football League, the Football Association Premier League, the Football Conference National division, the Scottish Football League or Welsh Premier League, or represents the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales.
